To Remove Shifter Knob:
Step 1: Make sure shifter is all the way forward in the Park position.
Step 2: Loosen the jam nut below the shifter knob by turning it clockwise.
Fig. 1
Step 3: For shifter knobs manufactured in 1995 and later, DO NOT loosen
or remove the set screw that is in the knob. Simply turn the knob
counter clockwise to remove it.
If your shifter knob has a tendency to try to turn back to its original
position when you let go of it, it is likely that your shifter knob was
manufactured before 1995.
For shifter knobs manufactured before 1995, remove the 1/4"-20
set screw using a 1/8" Allen wrench. Depress the release button and
hold it down. Rotate the knob 90 degrees (1/4 turn) counter clock-
wise, so that the set screw hole is at the 3:00 position. Fig. 2
While still holding the release button down, remove the #10-32 set
screw from the same hole, using a 3/32" Allen wrench.
Turn the shifter knob counter-clockwise to remove it.
To Install Shifter Knob:
Step 1: Make sure the jam nut is still in place on the shifter lever.
Step 2: For shifter knobs manufactured 1995 and later, screw the shifter
knob onto the shifter lever until the release button comes up flush
with the top of the shifter knob.
